Magdalen Lawler SND
Magdalen is a Sister of Notre Dame, living in Bermondsey, SE London; a theologian and art historian. After many years teaching art and religious education in secondary and tertiary education, Magdalen trained at St Beuno’s in 1980 and was part of the Ignatian retreat team at Loyola Hall, Merseyside, from 1980-83. Since then she has worked in retreats and spiritual direction in tandem with student chaplaincy and teaching at Liverpool Hope University, and in chaplaincy at Heythrop College, University of London. Now retired, Magdalen offers retreats and spiritual direction throughout the UK, Ireland and Malta, often in Ignatian retreat centres. She has a special interest in women’s spirituality and in the relationship between spirituality and the visual arts.
She is the author of Encountering Christ, Conversations with Women in John’s Gospel published by Redemptorist Publications, as well as Pathways to God’s Goodness; the Spirituality of St Julie Billiart, obtainable from www.sndden.org Her most recent publications are Christ, Our Morning Star, Love bade me Welcome and Show us the Father all published by Pauline Media UK.
