A first visit to St Beuno’s

After an extremely busy few months I jumped at the chance for a quiet day at St Beuno’s. It was my first visit and I was totally overwhelmed by the whole experience. Perhaps, I was unaware of the need I had for prayer, rest and spiritual input and St Beuno’s was where I found all these things. It was as if I had been led to a watering hole in the middle of the desert. Immediately, I was struck by a great sense of God’s presence; in the silence of the beautiful gardens, the chapels, during lunch and in the people I met.

I was lucky enough to meet with Father Damian at the start and end of my day. He allowed me to share my thoughts and reflections which in turn helped me to reflect and pray and be more open to God and what the day was to bring.  Unfortunately, the day went far too quickly. However it has given me a yearning to return and stay for longer next time. St Beuno’s is certainly a wellspring, a place for rest, reflection, prayer and most importantly where the presence of God can certainly be found.
