‘Enlivening’ Training for Manresa Link

Published on 16 Jul 2016

Some of the St. Beuno’s team have recently finished a series of monthly outreach training days for Manresa Link, a network for Ignatian spirituality in and around Birmingham. Manresa Link was founded by Gerry Hughes SJ and is focussed on helping people develop and deepen their experience of prayer using the principles of the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises. The training days covered various elements of prayer guiding: an Ignatian model of spiritual accompaniment; discernment of spirits and decision making; supervision in spiritual direction.

The days were pretty chock-full with a lot to digest, but both the team and participants thoroughly enjoyed being involved and the training has enlivened Manresa Link and will certainly make a difference to the future of the group. The group shared that they really appreciated the quality, depth and range of inputs and resources, the care and professionalism of the St. Beuno’s team, and even the dreaded ‘quads and triads’. Any of you who have done any training with us may shiver at memories of those – but however nerve-wracking it is to be observed doing spiritual accompaniment, there is no better way to learn and explore those ‘growing edges’ than practicing it and getting feedback from those already experienced in the field.

As one of the team involved, I was hugely nourished and inspired by the days, meeting others working in this field of Ignatian spirituality, hearing their stories and experiences, and myself learning and receiving just as much if not more from being there as a trainer. Thank you Manresa Link!
