... in a surprising fact

A foodbank or soup kitchen

I have been following a fact-checking organisation during the election campaign.

One of the facts they verified was the claim that there are more foodbanks than branches of Macdonalds. Apparently this is true, there really are.

The need for foodbanks in our society is a shame upon us all. But I find some comfort in knowing that they are there. Foodbanks are almost exclusively run by charitable donations and volunteers. Although there are some big charities which help run them, they are often set up  and run by grass-roots volunteers from local communities. It can be easy to think that people don't care, but many, many people are incredibly kind, selfless and socially conscious, and God is at work in these people.
