A potter at work

I was listening to something on the radio this week where a potter described starting a new pot by throwing clay on the wheel. I have never tried pottery myself but would love to one day. I was struck immediately by the comment he made about the clay being at the centre of the wheel and how the centrifugal force acts upon it.

If the clay is not in the centre then the pot will not come out right, it will be assymetrical or skewed. If the clay is thrown in the centre, then in the hands of a good potter, the rest will easy to accomplish.

The same is true of us. If we know where our centre is then the rest of our lives fall into place more easily. Where is our centre? Our centre should be God. If we keep God at the centre of our lives, all the rest should follow.
