... in the Holy Spirit

Light shining through a window, pot plant on window sill

In the last two weeks I have had the answers to three things I had been praying for. One of them, in particular, was a difficult situation which had arisen several years ago, and I had long prayed for a good resolution to it, and worried over it. Then the resolution came, not in the way I had expected even, but it was as though there had never even been a problem.

This is often how the Holy Spirit works - quietly in the background, often unnoticed. A gentle breeze on a warm summer day. It reminded me of how when was a child and was sick, my parents, knowing that I would be worse if my temperature rose, would gently pull back the blankets I was wrapped in, open a window and get a damp cloth for my forehead, ask me to take sips of drink and read me a story, until I felt better. As parents so often do they would work away unnoticed and mostly unthanked. I thank God today for the Holy Spirit's work in our lives.
