3rd Sunday of Easter Year B
Let us pray in confident peace and Easter hope
Father in heaven, author of all truth,
a people once in darkness has listened to your word
and followed your Son as he rose from the tomb.
Hear the prayer of this newborn people
and strengthen your Church to answer your call.
May we rise and come forth into the light of day
to stand in your presence until eternity dawns.
Let all the earth cry out to God with joy. Alleluia!
God has glorified his servant Jesus.
1st Reading Acts 3: 13
If anyone should sin, we have our advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ.
2nd Reading 1 John 2: 1
Lord Jesus, explain the scriptures to us. Make our hearts burn within us as you talk to us.
Jesus stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you!’
Gospel Luke 24: 36
‘Why are you agitated, and why are these doubts rising in your hearts? Look ... Touch ... It is I.’
Gospel Luke 24: 38–39
You are witnesses.
Gospel Luke 24: 48
I read the opening prayer, and then ponder it, paragraph by paragraph, talking with God as I do so:
- about peace and hope …
- about how the word of God during this Easter season has ‘touched’ me …
- about the ways in which I feel called to witness to the Risen Jesus …
- about the strength I need from God to live as God is calling me to live.
I draw my conversation with God to a close, using either my own words or part /all of the Opening Prayer.
