32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C
Almighty Father, strong is your justice and great is your mercy. Protect us in the burdens and challenges of life.
Shield our minds from the distortion of pride and enfold our desire with the beauty of truth.
Help us to become aware of your loving design so that we may more willingly give our lives in service to all.
Guard me, Lord, as the apple of your eye. Hide me in the shadow of your wings
I shall be filled when I awake, with the sight of your glory, O Lord.
Response to the Psalm
The Lord is faithful: he will give you strength and guard you from the evil one.
Almighty and merciful God, graciously keep from us all adversity, so that, unhindered in mind and body alike, we may pursue in freedom of heart the things that are yours.
Maybe in the dark of an autumn evening, in front of a candle reminding me of Christ’s presence, I quieten myself and allow the words of this ancient prayer to rise up and speak to me.
There is so much here; what am I thinking and pondering about …? What is touching my heart now …? Could it be something different if I pray it again tomorrow …?
‘Almighty Father’ … Just … Merciful. ‘Protect’ … ‘Shield’ … ‘Enfold’ … ‘Distortion’ … ‘Desire’
‘More willingly’ … ‘Service’ … ‘Beauty of truth’…
In this season of mists, I let my prayer, perhaps wordless, slowly rise upwards – like incense – to the Lord.
I give thanks …
