16th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C

Published on 01 Jul 2016
You worry and fret about so many things, and yet few are needed,

Let us pray that God will continue to bless us with his compassion and love.

Father, let the gift of your life continue to grow in us, drawing us from death to faith, hope and love.

Keep us alive in Christ Jesus.

Keep us watchful in prayer and true to his teaching till your glory is revealed in us.

God himself is my help. The Lord upholds my life … I will praise your name, O Lord, for its goodness.
Entrance Antiphon

Father, let the gift of your life continue to grow in us.
Opening Prayer

I became the servant of the Church when God made me responsible for delivering God’s message to you.
Colossians 1: 25

I stand at the door and knock, says the Lord. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and sit down to supper with him, and he with me.
Second Communion Antiphon

You worry and fret about so many things, and yet few are needed, indeed only one.
Luke 10: 41–42

I read the opening prayer slowly, staying with those parts that ‘speak to’ me, recalling, perhaps:

¨  how God has already blessed me with his compassion and love, and where I need his compassion and love today;

¨  how his life has already grown in me – has already deepened my faith, hope and love, and where I still need to grow, to be watchful, to remain true to his teaching; and

¨  asking God to rekindle my desire to be the kind of person who will glorify him and reveal his glory by the way I live.

I bring this time to a close, in words arising from today’s encounter with God.
