Journey into Freedom Day 36
Preparation: Begin by stilling, then dedicating the time of prayer to God and asking God that all you think, feel and imagine are for the glory of God.
Gift: I ask that I may know Jesus more intimately, love him more dearly and follow him more closely.
Setting: Imagine you are being sent out by Jesus with these instructions. How do you feel about them? What do you do?
Luke 10:1-12 HCSB
Now Jesus was going around the villages in a circuit, teaching. He summoned the Twelve and began to send them out in pairs and gave them authority over unclean spirits. He instructed them to take nothing for the road except a walking stick: no bread, no traveling bag, no money in their belts. They were to wear sandals, but not put on an extra shirt. Then He said to them, “Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that place. If any place does not welcome you and people refuse to listen to you, when you leave there, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”
So they went out and preached that people should repent. And they were driving out many demons, anointing many sick people with olive oil, and healing them.

Guidelines for Eating
In the Spiritual Exercises Saint Ignatius gives guidelines for eating. He is clear we should eat sufficient to keep us healthy and enable us to do our work. But sufficient is the rule, never overeat.
Keep food simple! Don’t overdo the dainties. There will be feast days and celebrations when we can enjoy a modest amount of something special, but this should contrast with our usual basic fare.
Alcoholic drink should be kept to the minimum, taking just what is helpful.
Be mindful when eating. Eat slowly, enjoy your food. Plan your eating—ideally after a meal when you are not hungry—decide what you are to eat and how much, then keep to this amount.
Always leave the table feeling you could eat a little more. If you are tempted to eat a little more, eat a little less!
