Online:-Spiritual Conversation Course
Follow on course from Growth in Prayer and Reflective Living. This is the second in a series of three courses in Ignatian Spirituality leading up to spiritual Direction/Accompaniment.
This course takes place on Fridays and Saturdays monthly from September to May.
Participants in this course develop skills to enter into conversations on life, death, joy, illness, relationships, God and the spiritual side of life. Those who work in church visiting, hospital or other chaplaincy work or just conversing with friends are able to be more comfortable talking about some of life's serious subjects. Teachers, and those working in various capacities in the NHS and social work have found the insights and skills gained through the course invaluable to their practice.
The course is based in the Jesuit tradition of St Ignatius Loyola and explores the attitudes, skills and ways of listening and discerning contained in good spiritual conversation. It is a requirement for those going on to train in Spiritual Accompaniment / Direction.
Participants should have completed the Growth in Prayer and Reflective Listening Course or made the Full Ignatian Spiritual Exercises or taken part in some other equivalent experience.
Topics covered in the course:
- Module 1: Listening Skills.
- Module 2: Personal Prayer – Ways of Praying
- Module 3: Ignatian Discernment.
- Module 4: The practice of Spiritual Conversation in Daily Life.
