St Ignatius says that, for most people, making the First Week of the Exercises will be of great profit.  Of eight days duration, the First week involves first considering who we are before God and then challenging look at sin in the world and our part in it and God’s loving response.

The retreat is for those who want to experience the Spiritual Exercises, but do not intend to continue to make the full Exercises. It would be especially suited to those working in Jesuit or Ignatian organisations.

An individually guided retreat offers you the time and opportunity to pay attention to God to be more aware of God’s work in your life.  It also gives the space to pray and to reflect on yorr life, to consider the decisions you have to make, and the priorities you want to set.

Each retreatant has their own retreat guide or “spiritual director” with whom you meet each day, and who will help you to focus, reflect and discern.  The retreats at St Beuno’s are based on the Spiritual Exercises and the Ignatian tradition.  The beautiful rural setting of St Beuno's provides a still and sacred place that is conducive to prayer.

These retreats are held in silence. There is celebration of the Eucharist and half an hour of Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament for communal silent prayer period available each day.  The retreat begins at 6.30pm, (bedrooms are available from 4pm). Please try to arrive between 4pm and 5pm to have time to settle in.  The retreat finishes after breakfast on the last day.
